What Microwave Steam Bags Are NOT
Heat applications punish the wrong film spec, so be clear on what these bags will not do:
- NOT retort pouches. These are microwave-spec bags for reheating and steam cooking up to about 100°C. Retort sterilization at 121°C is a different structure (PA/PP) with a different validation process — if you need shelf-stable retort, tell us up front.
- NOT oven or grill safe. Microwave only. Dry-heat ovens, open flame and toaster ovens will damage the film.
- NOT compostable by default. Heat-resistant steam bags are PP or PET/CPP based. Recyclable and bio-based options exist, but the heat spec narrows the eco choices — we will tell you exactly what is possible.
