Bio-PE (Braskem I'm green™) is polyethylene made from sugarcane. Chemically identical to conventional PE, so it recycles in the LDPE #4 stream — no compostability claims, no greenwashing.

What Bio-PE is — and is NOT

  • IS recyclable in the LDPE #4 stream (same as conventional PE).
  • IS bio-based — sourced from renewable sugarcane via Braskem I'm green™.
  • IS NOT compostable. Bio-PE does not break down in industrial or home compost, so EN 13432 does not apply. (We removed that claim.)
  • IS NOT recycled content. For post-consumer recycled material, see our PCR film (GRS-certified) — a different product.
