Freshly roasted coffee beans release a significant amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the days immediately following the roasting process. If packaged in completely sealed, airtight bags, this trapped gas will cause the bag to inflate and eventually burst. Conversely, if the bag is not sealed airtight, oxygen will enter, leading to rapid staling and loss of the volatile compounds that give specialty coffee its complex flavor profile.

The solution is the one-way degassing valve. This crucial component allows the built-up CO2 to escape from the inside of the pouch while preventing ambient oxygen from entering. Home-compostable means certified to AS 5810 — it breaks down in a real, active home compost system (hot, managed pile), not in a cold bin, cupboard, or landfill.

We do not claim it 'biodegrades' in landfill. No compostable film breaks down in a dump; that label misleads on its own.

If home composting is not available, the same films are also built for industrial composting (EN 13432). Both paths are real options.
